Around the World in 80 days

Text and Stage Direction

Hugo Bélanger

Adapted from Jules Verne

The unexpected does not exist!

Relive the insane gamble of Phileas Fogg from a new and magical angle! Théâtre Tout à Trac offers a show inspired by the great theatrical traditions of the world in a stunning and imaginative reinterpretation of Jules Verne’s classic, where Phileas Fogg and his servant, Passepartout, cross the shadow theater, the Japanese bunraku, the Balinese Topeng, the Western and the American musical comedy.

The Around the world in 80 days of Théâtre tout à Trac invites you to rediscover the world from a new angle while questioning our obsession with speed and our relationship with others.

Twenty-seven different places, about fifty characters, masks, puppets, live music. Not to mention an elephant trip, a balloon flight, a crazy train chase and a boat in the middle of a storm.

Benoît Gouin, Stéphane Breton, Carl Béchard, Tania Kontoyanni, Éloi Cousineau, Patrice D’Aragon, Maude Desrosiers and Carl Poliquin invite you to dive with them in this hectic and whimsical adventure.

A crazy bet! A world tour in 80 days. Go!

A creation of Tout à Trac in collaboration with the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde.

  • Winner of 3 Gascon-Roux awards for the 2014-2015 seasons of Théâtre du Nouveau Monde for the sets (Francis Farley-Lemieux), lighting (Luc Prairie) and staging of the year (Hugo Bélanger).
