This lecture-show introduces young people to the masked acting of
commedia dell’arte, a legendary theater style that is at the heart of
theater in the West. After a brief history, the participants
discover the main characters of this theatrical genre: Harlequin,
Pantalone, Doctor, Capitan, Brighella and Tartaglia, without forgetting Pierrot
and Colombine.
Following the explanation of the origins of each of these characters, the
comedian trainer will interpret them with real masks from the
Italian comedy allowing the learning of archetypes and
body positions specific to each. The lecture-show
finish with a little exercise where the trainer leads a participant
chosen in the audience and make him play a lazzi, an improvised stage show,
with a mask.
